School Community Council Meeting- Thursday, April 2, 2026 @ 5:30pm
Attendance
Present- Isaac Zeigler, Rebecca Brown, Krystal Hansen, Matthew Toone, Vickie Hulderson, Melissa Jones, Kelcey Kemp, Dave Barrett
- Welcome and Approval of February Minutes:
Isaac welcomed the Council and asked for motion to approve February minutes. Krystal moved to approve, Isaac seconded motion. Motion to approve was unanimous.
- School Review and Updates
Budgets- Land trust expenditures discussed, currently $32,000 under budget but most of this will be used for salaries through the remainder of the year.
Land Trust/TSSP- Budgets were reviewed
- Counseling Center Updates- “Neck deep” in Senior Deficiency meetings. Counseling center is getting letters/notices out, giving out Great Start awards, working towards all students getting their desired and required classes in their freshman year. Senior meeting coming up April 21st, Counseling Center survey being sent to parents, Cap and Gown distribution begins May 19th. District exit survey for seniors will be promoted during cap and gown distribution.
- Other Items– Discussion ensued regarding new High School Grading Scale, proposed grading scale was projected on screen to Council. Lowering of standards concerns were expressed, standardization of grading scale was touted as a benefit as well as appealing to struggling learners.
Construction updates- delays in material procurements will result in delayed completion of fieldhouse and black box theater projects.
School goals update- Kelcey reported that we are holding steady and on pace to reach our goals. Not sure if we are going to make our goal of reducing the number of “F” grades. Kelcey pulled up data reporting feature on DataDashboard and it appears that we are moving in the right direction and reaching our goals.
Graduation “Legacy Stole” was displayed on screen… Kelcey described the symbolism of the design. Graduation rates were discussed. New AB schedule proposals were discussed.
