Is Spring Recess still happening as planned? Is the school year being extended to accommodate make-up days? What is Canyons doing to support at-home learning? The dismissal of all 50 CSD schools and programs as a preemptive measure to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 has generated a lot of questions, and it’s important that families know where they can go for timely information they can trust. Canyons District has created a web portal where students, parents and employees can find the latest announcements and developments. Government guidelines are changing rapidly, and we’ll updating our community on a regular basis, so please bookmark this link for future reference. The Canyons Board of Education and Administration wish to express appreciation for the community’s support and efforts and diligence of our employees as we pull together to keep our communities healthy and safe.
School lunches. Special education grants. Training for teachers and support for families in need. Census results, and the programs and resources tied to them, affect our students every day. A complete headcount of everyone living in the country, the census only comes around once every 10 years, and the time to be counted — and to make sure your community receives its fair share of federal funding for schools — is coming. This month, every person living in Utah will take part in the 2020 Census. It’s possible to respond to the census online, by phone, or by mail starting March 12. It takes only 10 minutes, the information is kept strictly confidential, and if you don’t have access to a computer at home, we can help. Join us for “We Count Week,” March 16-20, and come complete the census at one of four Canyons District-sponsored Open House events. https://www.canyonsdistrict.org/district-news/item/12447-the-2020-census-is-coming-make-sure-you-re-counted
Hello Jordan High Families!
We have a lot going on this week especially as we launch into tryouts for spring sports and host Parent Teacher Conferences. Many of our students have done some incredible things that we want to share it with you.
- Congratulations to the Jordan High Cheerleaders who recently placed fourth at their recent nationals competition in California! Way to go!
- Congratulations to both the Girls and Boys Basketball Teams who advanced in the state play-offs last week. Both teams fought hard during their last games against Westlake and Skyridge respectively, and we had a lot of school spirit shown by our students. While we did not advance to the quarterfinals, the teams showed tremendous talent and represented the Diggers well. Way to go!
- Congratulations to Jordan High’s Robotics Team, the Gravediggers, who represented our school well at the Capitol last week. They participated in an event called “Robots on the Rotunda” and showed all of our legislators their incredible problem-solving skills. Way to go!
- Congratulations to the Jordan High Drumline who also performed at the State Capitol last week during the legislative session. People came out of their offices and out of conference sessions to hear their amazing talent. These students also did a great job of explaining why it’s great to be a Beetdigger here at Jordan High!
