4.    Introduction of New Principal                     Wendy Dau & Bruce Eschler
B. Eschler – introduction – personal and educational background

A Bryant – if the pandemic is still going, will there be a survey for graduation?
B. Eschler – Yes

5.    Other Admin Changes                            Wendy Dau, Bruce Eschler, & Jana Crist
J. Crist will be retiring; will be replaced by Kelsey Kemp currently at Alta

6.    Advisory Proposal                                         Bruce Eschler & Mary Simao
Committee of teachers looked at Hillcrest and Alta models
Academic support needed at Jordan. Would like to base Jordan’s more like Hillcrest based on the data for graduation rates and F and D rates. Proposal has been given to BLT to take back to faculty
Trends: D’s and F’s about 40% with one or more D or F. Most of these students are in class. Students are not taking retakes due to outside factors.
This will provide a time for these students to make up assignments/tests.
This will not help students will six or more D’s or F’s
Teacher would become the academic advocate for the 25 students in their advisory.
Teachers would check grades. Students would then sign up to go to teacher’s class or teacher would request the student to meet to improve grades
Students with A’s and B’s would have this time to work on homework, tutoring, service, etc.
A hall pass app has been purchased to handle the students going to different classes. Electronic hall pass – This tracks attendance, engagement, etc.
Possible .25 credit for advisory for the year.
EL students would be paired with their EL teacher to advocate for them. This will not help those students who are not attending.
Allows us to push out social/emotional curriculum, registration, assemblies, etc. during this time.
Overall purpose is to help students work toward graduation

B. Eschler: a proponent. Early on, had concerns, but saw how this helped EL students. Other students were able to get additional help as well. This proposal addresses many of the issues that were in his previous experience. We need to do more for the social/emotional aspects of our students. Creates a structure to build relationships. No student gets missed

J. Barron: When will the D’s and F’s be pulled? Will be updated weekly on Tuesday.
Numbers are reported at the end of the quarter
Puts pressure on teachers to update grades

A. Bryant: What are some options for A and B students?
College applications, scholarship essays, AP study time; the teacher can help structure the time

C. Gardner: has a student at Hillcrest. This has been very successful Many options can be available
Hillcrest has done a great job of holding both teachers and students accountable.

A. Bryant : What about CTEC students?
These students would not have advisory; Also this would have to be adjusted for a reduced schedule

A. Boyer: Would students be able to go to the seminary building Students can use chromebook?
J. Barron: Can students request a teacher for their advisory? Will look into using the APP with seminary

C. Gardner: How long has it been going on at HIllcrest?
Three years. 50% the first year, now 80% in terms of teachers utilizing the time as needed.

J. Jolley: Will there be training for the teachers?
Yes. The advisory committee with help with this, especially with the hall pass app. Will have to model the social/emotional curriculum

What is the best way to roll this out to the parents?
Maybe a short video sent out Wendy’s email.
Will not ask students for input until they are part of it. Ask them for input at that time, on how to better the program.
Rational will have to be given to students

T. Sorensen: It’s important that we show that each class is important. This is going to stick around. We will need commitment

M. Gladbach: Interested in how data will be collected
