School Community Council Meeting—Wednesday, March 11, 2026 @ 5:30pm

Attendance- Present- Kelcey Kemp, Rebecca Brown, Doug Jensen, James Barron, Krystal Hansen, Brandie Kafentzis, Melissa Jones, Vickie Hulderson, Dave Barrett, Matthew Toone, Elizabeth Demke

  1. Welcome and Approval of February Minutes:

SCC Chair and Vice Chair were excused, James Barron ran the meeting, welcomed the Council and asked for a motion to approve February meeting minutes.

Matthew Toone motioned to approve February 2026 minutes, Melissa Jones seconded and motion approved by unanimous vote

Land Trust/TSSP and Budgets-

Current TSSP data analysis, overarching goal reviewed, instructional and school climate goals shared, action plan steps and expenditures reviewed, using WICOR and AVID strategies to accomplish instruction and behavioral goals… these were presented via datadashboard, PLC conferences and professional development conferences for teachers discussed

26-27 school year TSSP/LandTrust proposal shared via PowerPoint, increasing student involvement in extracurricular activities was highlighted, we want a higher level of student engagement and community involvement, academic/school climate goals and budget expenditures including funding sources (TSSP or Land Trust) discussed, reducing Ds and Fs is layered into the overarching goals which encompasses academic improvement, looking at EWS, PLCs, RI, ASPIRE and other metrics will provide formative data along the way to determine progress in achieving our goals

Construction updates- parking lot lighting to be started and completed in June, baseball/softball lighting gone to bid, bleachers and locker room gone to bid, auditorium to be completed in June, aux gym all new LED lighting, main gym lighting to be completed in summer, July 1 completion date for small theater and field house

Melissa Jones, review and updates:  Meeting with seniors regarding credit deficiencies, Monday and Tuesday met with 10th graders for CCRs in Tech Atrium, working on putting the right students in correct intervention courses, finalized registration cards, arena scheduling and scheduling changes discussed, graduataion requirements, honors cords are being given, scholarship opportunities are being promoted (can be found online), ASVAB coming up, Seal of Biliteracy Testing finalized last week, PSAT offered to sophomores (information went out to parents in a ParentSquare, SLCC representative is coming Jordan weekly (very knowledgeable), Substance Abuse Class will be offered (looking at one Monday evening in April), graduation will be held in Maverick Center 2pm May 27th, caps and gowns will be provided beginning May 19th.

Vickie suggested that we send out ParentSquare highlighting SLCC opportunities

Adoption of 2026-27 TSSP and Land Trust-  Krystal Hansen motioned to approve, Liz Demke seconded motion, motion approved with unanimous vote.
