- Review/Updates: Eschler
- Budgets
- Eschler reports that the TSSA/Land Trust allocations are looking good.
- We were having a lack of applicants for two separate part time positions:
- 504 coordinator & Instructional Aide
- We are going to combine to make 1 full time position in hopes to fill the position
- We are assigned 3 hall monitors, but lacking 1 due to medical issues therefore:
- We will post a full-time hall monitor position to have a 4th this
- Jen asked what a hall monitor’s job description is?
- Dr. Eschler explained the many duties.
- Data Review
- Eschler will have data for the January meeting.
- Land Trust Plan
- TSSP (Teacher Student Success Plan)
- Cell Phones
- What is parent feedback from SCC on a District Wide Cell Phone Policy?
- Teachers feel that cell phones are a problem according to the administration team.
- Discussion about barriers to a cell phone policy:
- Power Struggle
- Accountability/Liability for property in a check in method
- Teacher buy in and consistency of enforcement
- Parent support and/or pushback
- Some parents love stricter policies such as Eastmont
- Earbuds and watches are also a problem
- SCC agrees that we support some sort of restrictions
- In class, yes
- During Passing? Lunch? The feedback is that it seems tough to enforce and overboard.
- Thoughts on locking or storing phones in a locker/cupboard
- Once concern could be time to collect each period
- Brandie says that it would be less time that is currently spent managing.
- Tiered Approach? For example
- Manage yourself
- Home/Jail
- Admin confiscate
- Policy should be in registration on top of disclosures to make sure
- Power Struggle
- Brandie mentioned perhaps documenting via an office referral to avoid the power struggle
- Parents, however, often appreciate the documentation or bigger tiers of intervention
- Would site level decisions be better than a district policy?
- Jennifer believes a site decision could be more effective to target our population
- Jen believes we could change the expectation especially since the middle schools have more stringent policies.
- Would we like to review the draft before any potential policy?
- Yes!
- Administration is 100% in support of a district wide policy that has perhaps more teeth to help support teachers and students
- Once concern could be time to collect each period
